Android 4.4.2 KitKat for Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 SM-T210 Available Now

Rakesh | 12 Sep 2014 | ROMs/ Samsung

KitKat Firmware for Galaxy Tab 3

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 was launched back in July 2013 with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware running out of the box. Sadly, the device did not receive any major OS upgrade since its release but Samsung now seems to have blessed it with the latest Android 4.4.2 firmware update. Download the Android 4.4.2 KitKat Firmware for Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 and flash it with Odin.

If you remember, the 3G+WiFi version of the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 (SM-T211) received the KitKat update a couple of months ago and now Samsung has started rolling out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 SM-T210 WiFi only version. The Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 features a 7-inch display with 600 x 1024 pixels resolution, Dual-core 1.2 GHz CPU, 1GB RAM, 3.15MP rear and 1.3MP rear camera, and 4000mAh battery.

If you own this Tab and want to update it to the latest OS version, the wait is over now. Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware with build version T210XXBNH4 for the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 SM-T210 is now available for download. The first KitKat firmware is meant for the users of the device in Italy. The good thing is that the released firmware is unbranded and therefore it can be installed on any Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 SM-T210 (WiFi) that is not carrier branded.

It simply means that you do not need to wait for the KitKat OTA to reach your country or reason. You can simply download the Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware from below and install it manually using Odin flash tool. Below, you’ll find the detailed steps to install the official firmware easily and safely.

Preparation:

  • Download Odin 3.09: Odin3 v3.09.zip
  • Download and install Samsung USB drivers.
  • Enable USB Debugging on your Tab 3.
  • Charge you Tab to have at least 60% battery.
  • Backup your important data and apps.

Steps to Install

  1. Extract the firmware zip file.
  2. Open the Odin folder and launch the program.
  3. Boot your tab into the Download mode. If you do not know how to do so, here’s the method: turn off your Tab and then press and hold the Volume Down + Home + Power buttons together for about 2-3 seconds. You’ll see a warning screen, just press the Volume Up key to enter Download mode.
  4. Connect your Tab to your computer using the USB cable.
  5. To indicate a successful connection, the ID:COM port on Odin turns blue and “Added!” in the message box below.
  6. Now click the AP button on Odin and select the firmware file with .tar.md5 extension.
  7. Make sure that only Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options are checked on Odin.
  8. Take a calm breath and click the Start button on Odin.cf root odin
  9. Wait till the installation finished and you see PASS! message on Odin. It might take about 2-4 minutes and your Galaxy Tab 3 will reboot automatically.

When your device boots up, go to Settings> About device to check the firmware version. It should show Android version as 4.4.2.

Recommended

Should you encounter or notice any issues (like overheating, battery drain, slow performance, WiFi connection, etc.) after updating your Galaxy Tab 3 to Android 4.4.2 KitKat, try the following solution. Please keep in mind that your device’s data on the internal storage will be wiped, so make a backup first.

  1. Turn off your Galaxy Tab 3.
  2. Press and hold Volume Up+Home+Power buttons at the same time for 4-5 seconds till you see the device enters the Recovery Mode.
  3. Using the Volume Down key, highlight wipe data factory reset option and press the Power button and select Yes.
  4. Now go back to the main menu in Recovery and select reboot system now.
  5. When your Tab 3 boots up, your device should work fine now.

Then you can install any Asian firmware. As for the connection issue, re-install the Samsung USB drivers, enable USB debugging on your device and try a different USB cable and port to fix it.

There are two ways to fix the problem:

          1. Perform a data factory reset via recovery: https://www.droidviews.com/how-to-perform-data-factory-reset-and-wipe-cache-on-samsung-galaxy-devices/

          2. Install the stock firmware. If your tab is not carrier-branded, you can install any Asian firmware. using our guide.

    Hi.
    Ty for the tutorial.
Do you know if it’s suitable for the Disney version too?
As far as I know the model seems to be the same (HW is reported as SM-T210 but I want to be sure not to brick it).
It’s my kid old tablet and want to bring it up to new life as non-Disney.

    Thanks

        Hi, yes please.
Actually I just did a factory reset it but if I could safely get rid of all of that childish stuff it would be great.
Due to warranty expired in Pleistocene I was also considering flashing up a custom firmware (like Cyanogenmod or whatever) but the stock non-Disney FW would be ok.
My main goal is to get rit of all useless preinstalled kid apps to try to boost it the most.
My B plan would be to root it to uninstall/disable as much as possible stuff.

Still I don’t know if the Disney and non-Disney version are just a different bunch of preinstalled stock apps or if there something in the hardware which differs.
So, any help would be really appreciated.

        It’s a non-branded “Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 SM-T210 (WiFi) Disney Edition”.

        Thank you for your reply.
        🙂

Hi again, you can disable unnecessary boat/stock apps from Settings> Applications> All. Just open each app and use the “Disable” option. The disabled apps will disappear from your app drawer.

Alternatively you can root your tab and delete those apps using a root browser, or just flas a custom ROM.

Hello, excuse me, I’m from Mexico and I didn’t take note of my storage firmware, but I remember a year ago I successfully rooted my tab and as a result I got a T210XXAMG2 firmware. I just unrooted it hopping I’d receive the automatic update for Kitkat but it says there’s a problem with my connection so that means I’m only left with manual update using Odin. Now, My question is, after unrooting I got this built number JZZ054K.T210XXAMG2 but still I saw that Mexico’s update had this one: TCE-T210XXBNI1 so now I’m confused. Which one should I use? I already downloaded Mexico’s file but when trying to unzip it it says the file’s damaged and won’t let me even unzip the file, so what now? Any suggestions? Please.

Hello, I’m from Israel and the tutorial worked just fine, thank you very much!

About a year ago I had an issue in which I couldn’t copy files that are over 4GB to the tablet,
I found a guide with a solution using rooting, then failed the rooting process and almost lost my tablet (got stuck with a green flashing screen for a while).

Now I figured they might have fixed the issue with the KitKat update, but I get an error when the file is almost finished moving. (The device has either stopped responding or is disconnected)
Any idea on how to solve this issue? I am willing to try rooting again, since I really want to see HD movies on the tablet w/o cutting them into two pieces.

My tab suddenly shuts off when I use it even though its still have 60% charge. Once I turned it on, the battery changed to 5% and if I used it, it will shut off again. I tried the factory reset but still the problem persists. I don’t know if this is a software or hardware problem.

Samsung was pushing this update, so my daughter took it. Bad move..

This update (4.4.2) hopelessly breaks the Flash Player. If Flash is important to you, do not take this update.

Also it limits the YouTube app videos to a cell phone sized portion of the screen. No work around that I can find without rooting or re-flashing the previous version of Android and losing everything.

    Bummer… ;O)

We now have a KitKat-ready build of TWRP. Try this:

      Download this recovery file: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23681161096069130

and install the file with Odin. Use all Odin steps given above. Make sure to enable USB debugging first.

When the recovery is flashed and the device boots up, download the latest SuperSU zip file: http://download.chainfire.eu/452/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.02.zip

Copy the zip to your tab, then turn it off and boot into recovery mode using Volume up+Home+Power buttons.

Tap the Install button and install the SuperSu zip. To verify root, try this app: https://play.google.com/store/…

Then reboot system. This should work. Let me know!

Turn off the device, charge it to the full, then use till it fully discharges. Do this 4-5 times. It should be fixed.

If you having just the battery issue you can wait till 4-5 charge cycles are done. The new device takes some time to sync with the battery. Use the device, let it get fully discharged, then charge it after turning off. Repeat this 3-4 times, the battery issue should be fixed!

            Download this recovery file: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358561015

and install the file with Odin. Use all Odin steps given above. Make sure to enable USB debugging.

When the recovery is flashed and the device boots up, download SuperSU zip file: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2243853&d=1378665540

Copy the zip to your tab, then turn it off and boot into recovery mode using Volume up+Home+Power buttons.

Tap the Install button and install the SuperSu zip.

Then reboot system. This should work. Let me know as soon as possible.
