Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo unveiled the F7 mid-range smartphone back in March of 2018. The Oppo F7 features a 6.23in Full HD+ tall 19:9 IPS LCD display with a resolution of 2280 x 1080px. The Oppo F7 is powered by a capable mid-range Octa-core MediaTek MT6771 Helio P60 SoC coupled with a Mali G72 MP3 GPU along with 6 GB of RAM on 128GB and 4GB of RAM on 64 GB internal storage variants. Thankfully, a MicroSD card slot that can handle cards of up to 256GB is present in the F7 for expandable storage. A fingerprint scanner is onboard in the Oppo F7 and if that isn’t enough, face unlock is also available that uses around 128 recognition points to identify the user’s face. Speaking of which, the phone will not unlock if the user’s eyes are closed.

Camera

Photography is handled by a simple single camera setup at the rear featuring a 16MP sensor with its lens having an aperture of f/1.8. The rear camera is assisted by a single LED flash. Up front, the Oppo F7 features a 25MP selfie expert camera with its lens having an aperture of f/2.0. Speaking of which, the front-facing camera is equipped with features like HDR mode for great selfies in varying lighting conditions, an AI mode that helps the camera understand whether the subject is male or female, a vivid mode that helps saturate the colors in the photos and AR stickers. The camera at the rear and front can records videos at a resolution of up to 1080p @ 30fps.

Battery, connectivity and Android version

A decent enough 3400 mAh battery is onboard the Oppo F7 to keep the lights on. Unfortunately, the device comes equipped with the obsolete and outdated MicroUSB port to help it slowly take its time to fill up with juice and get going. Coming to the connectivity side of the Oppo F7, it has you covered with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2 LE with A2DP, GPS and more. Thankfully enough, the Oppo has retained the good old headphone jack that we all love on the F7. The device runs on Android 8.1 Oreo-based Oppo’s ColorOS 5.0 custom UI out of the box.

Pricing, color options, and availability

The Oppo F7 is available as a Flipkart exclusive smartphone for online sales in India. At the time of writing this article, the Oppo F7 is priced at Rs. 19,990 (after Rs. 3000 discount for a limited time) for the base model all the way up to 23,990 (after Rs. 3000 discount for a limited time) for the top specced model on Flipkart. The Oppo F7 is available in Solar Red, Diamond Black, and Moonlight Silver (64GB variant only) paint jobs.

Design: why are most of the OEMs impersonating the Apple iPhones? I just don’t get it all

Design wise, at first glace itself, the Oppo F7 looks identical to the iPhone X. Speaking of which, there is no denying the fact that Asus was only and only inspired by the “FruitPhone X” for that infamous notched display and the iPhone 8 for the rear camera module design.
