Popular Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer Asus unveiled the flagship Zenfone 5Z back in February of this year at MWC 2018. The glass-on-glass build and iPhone X design inspired smartphone features a 6.2in Full HD+ 18:7:9 IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1080 x 2246. It is powered by the latest and greatest, mighty and powerful flagship grade Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with an Adreno 630 GPU along with 8GB (256GB storage variant), 6GB of RAM (128GB storage variant) and 4GB of RAM (64gb storage variant). Of course, there is a MicroSD card slot (utilizes SIM2 slot) present in the device that can handle cards of size up to 512GB. A fingerprint scanner and Asus face unlock is also onboard the flagship Zenfone 5Z.
Photography is handled by a dual camera setup at the rear of the Zenfone 5Z featuring a 12MP (f/1.8 lens) + 8MP (f/2.0 lens). The rear camera is able to record videos at a resolution of to 4K @ 30fps. Selfies are handled by an 8MP (f/2.0 lens) sensor upfront the Zenfone 5Z and the camera can record videos at a resolution of up to 1080p @ 30fps. A decent enough 3300mAh battery is onboard the Asus Zenfone 5Z to keep it ticking on. Coming to the connectivity side of the Asus Zenfone 5Z, it has you all covered with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0 LE with A2DP, GPS and more. Oh, and by the way, the device features the good old headphone jack we all love. The Zenfone 5Z runs on Asus ZenUI 5.0 based on Android 8.1 out of the box.
Availability, pricing and color options
The Asus Zenfone 5Z is available for purchase in India exclusively on Flipkart. As for pricing, the 8GB/256GB, 6GB/128GB and 4/64GB variants Zenfone 5Z costs ₹36,999, ₹32,999 and ₹29,999 respectively. Colour options available are Midnight Blue and Meteor Silver. Again, the Zenfone 5Z is a Flipkart exclusive device.
Design, why are most of the OEMs impersonating the Apple iPhone X?
Design wise, right of the bat, the Asus Zenfone 5Z looks identical to the iPhone X. Speaking of which, there is no denying the fact that Asus was only and only inspired by the “FruitPhone X” with the dead ringer being that infamous notched display and also the rear camera module design.
