All you need to do is to download your preferred mod and flash it via CWM or TWRP recovery. Needless to mention that your phone must have a custom recovery to be able to flash the audio mod on your device. Installing Nexus 5 Volume Boost Mod

1. Copy the downloaded volume boost mod file in ZIP to your Nexus 5.
2. Boot your device into CWM/TWRP recovery mode.
3. Backup your current ROM first.
4. Select the Install option, navigate to the mod file and select it.
5. When you are prompted to confirm installation, do it.
6. It’ll take just a few moments to flash the volume mod.
7. Go back to the main menu in recovery and select Reboot> System option.
8. Done!

When your Nexus 5 boots up, you should notice a great difference between the audio level of the speakers and headphone of your Nexus 5. In case you do not like the effect of the mod and wish to revert back to the stock volume levels, copy the N5_stock_volume_levels_4.4.2.zip file using the same steps.
