The Galaxy J7 Max is powered by a MediaTek Helio P20 SoC coupled with a Mali-T880 MP2 GPU aided by 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Thankfully, a dedicated MicroSD card slot that can handle cards of up to 256GB in size is available in the device for expanded storage. Providing visuals is a 5.7in 1080 x 1920 pixels Full HD+ PLS LCD display with an aspect ratio of 16:9 and a decent pixel density of 386 PPI. As expected on pretty much any smartphone nowadays, the Galaxy J7 Max is equipped with a fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication.

Camera

Photography is handled by a single camera setup at the rear featuring a 13 MP (f/1.7 lens) assisted by a single LED flash. Speaking of which, a smart glowing LED ring surrounds the camera module, which lights up upon receiving a notification. The rear camera can record videos at a resolution of up to 1080p @ 30fps. A 13MP (f/1.9) shooter also assisted by an LED flash is present upfront for selfieholics out there. The front facing camera can also record videos at a resolution of up to 1080 @ 30fps.

Battery, connectivity and Android version

An impressive 3300mAh battery is onboard the giant Galaxy J7 Max to provide decent enough juice to keep the lights on. The device is equipped with a MicroUSB port for charging and data transfer. Speaking of which, the MicroUSB port was already obsolete even at the time of the device’s release back in July of 2017. Coming to the connectivity side of the Galaxy J7 Max, it has you covered with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, A2DP and EDR, GPS for location and navigation based features and services and more. Thankfully, the device is equipped with the good old headphone jack we all love. At launch, The Galaxy J7 Max ran Android 7.0 and now after a year, it still hasn’t received an official update to Android Oreo 8.0.
