LineageOS, the custom ROM that is developed by the team that managed CyanogenOS has now officially released the latest version of LineageOS named as LineageOS 15.1. Talking about LineageOS, it was developed due to the shutdown of Cyanogen Inc. which resulted in the stoppage of development of CyanogenOS as well. Now, Cyanogen Inc. had a copyright of CyanogenOS so the team behind the open-source project decided to rename the project altogether and LineageOS was born. As far as LineageOS's development is concerned, the first build of LineageOS was released in January last year which was named as LineageOS 14.1 and it was based on Android 7.1 Nougat. As the latest version of Android, Android 8.0 Oreo was released by Google, LineageOS announced the development of LineageOS 15 is in the works based on Android Oreo. Later, there was an announcement made by LineageOS team which stated that LineageOS 15.1 will be released rather than LineageOS 15 and this ROM will be based on Android 8.1 Oreo directly instead of Android 8.0 Oreo.
