Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005 Android 4.4.2 KitKat Firmware Update

Rakesh | 13 Jan 2014 | ROMs/ Samsung

It was just yesterday that Samsung released a leaked test firmware for the Galaxy Note 3 LTE SM-N9005 (Snapdragon). There is nothing queer about a firmware leak but if it happens to be a KitKat one, it really matters. A couple of days ago, we shared a leaked KitKat firmware for the Galaxy S4 LTE. It appeared for awhile that S4 users will be the first to get the new update first despite the fact that being a newer device, Note 3’s claim was stronger.

Anyway, Samsung has started rolling out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware update via OTA to the users of Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005 in Poland. The build version of the released update is N9005XXUENA6. If you from Poland, just check you might have received the update notification. If not, you can request it via Kies by checking the software update manually. In case you are from any other part of the globe and own this specific model of Galaxy Note 3, you can download the complete firmware file from the link below and install it manually using Odin. Since the firmware is unbranded, it can be installed on any international Note 3 SM-N9005 that is not locked to a network carrier.

Well, we do not have much information about the new features offered by the KitKat update for the Galaxy Note 3, but we are sure about two new things that after getting your device updated: a new camera shortcut on the lockscreen and transparent status bar with white icons. Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005 Android 4.4.2 KitKat update also brings faster performance along with better battery life.

    i need some advice.
I have an Unlocked and Rooted SM-N9005 from Europe (XXUBMJ), but I can’t use it in Canada, and it says, Not registered on network. is there anyway that I can change my firmware or install a new ROM or a new Modem so I can use the phone with Canadian sim card???

If your phone is really unlocked, you should be able to receive network signal with any SIM. Did you use region lock away app?

yes, I used that app and it’s region unlocked. I used it in 2 other countries too and it was fine. the problem is it has the network bars and the correct APN settings, but the network is not working and it says not registered. 🙁 do you think if I can install a new modem or new ROM the problem is gonna be solved? because the Canadian version is SM-N900w8

Sadly ART is not released in this update, as it is still beta and not considered stable enough, But I think they may be keeping it for the S5/Note 4 or Android 5 when that is released.

As far as i know there shouldn’t be problem. I also have SM-N9005 model and i am from Slovenia, not Poland and my phone was bought on carrier. I flashed Polish firmware and it works. Carrier locked phone was suppose to lock only SIM card so that phone does not accept any other SIM card. Other than that i think there is no difference.

Hi Tim, I agree with Matwez. The firmware would run fine on any unlocked Note 3 LTE but on a locked network, you might encounter network issues.

The Polish release is ok with my UK unbranded n9005, only difference is the CSC it is XOE (Poland), all I do is download the UK version when released and re-flash it over the XOE one, to get back the UK CSC.

The Polish release will work on any EU/EAA Note 3 without any problems, and will not trip Knox, as it is an official update.

This release is for the Sim free unbranded version of the N9005, not for your network locked one, you will need to wait until Orange releases the update for your phone.
