The Redmi Go employs a simple 5in HD IPS LCD display with a resolution of 720 x 1280pixels. The handset is powered by a budget grade Snapdragon 425 SoC coupled to an Adreno 308 GPU, features 1GB of RAM and 8GB / 16GB of internal storage. As expected, a MicroSD card slot (SIM 2 slot) that can handle cards of up to 128GBin size is present in the device for storage expansion. Surprisingly or rather unsurprisingly, a fingerprint scanner is nowhere to be seen on the device.

A simple single camera system

Photography is managed by a pretty basic single camera setup at the rear featuring a primary 8MP (f/2.0) assisted by a single LED flash. Up front, we do have a 5MP (f/2.2) camera. Both the rear and forward facing cameras can record videos at a resolution of up to Full HD 1080p and HD 720p respectively.

Battery power connectivity and Android OS

A 3000mAh battery is onboard the Redmi Go to keep the lights on. Speaking of which, the device is topped up via the now outdated and obsolete MicroUSB port, which isn’t a surprise, considering the device’s market segment.

Now coming to the connectivity side of the Xiaomi Redmi Go, it has you covered with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 LE with A2DP, GPS for navigation and location-based services and more. Thankfully, Xiaomi has decided to retain the 3.5mm audio jack for audiophiles out there. The Xiaomi Redmi Go launches with Android 8.1 Oreo Go edition, the version aimed at emerging markets and Google’s initiative to replace the feature phone in the same.

The Xiaomi Redmi Go is available in Europe and the Philippines. The device costs EUR 80 in Europe. As for the paint jobs, the Redmi Go comes in Blue or Black.
