A 6.41″ FHD+ AMOLED, SD 855 with Super liquid cooling, up to 44W fast charging…

The high-end gaming smartphone, Vivo iQOO is equipped with a massive 6.41in Full HD+ water-drop notched OLED display with a resolution of 1080 X 2340 pixels. This monster of a smartphone is powered by highest-grade SoC i.e the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC that features Super Liquid Cooling, meaning it employs a vapor chamber for better heat dissipation to aid in cooling during intensive gaming sessions. The SoC is coupled to an Adreno 640GPU. Storage capacity is 256GB on the 8GB / 12GB and 128GB on the 8GB / 6GB of RAM variants. Oddly, a MicroSD card is not present in the device for storage expansion. An under-display fingerprint scanner is onboard the Vivo iQOO.

Multi-Turbo service

The Vivo iQOO comes baked in with performance-boosting services and features such as AI Turbo, Net Turbo, Center Turbo, Game Turbo and last but not the least Cooling Turbo. Speaking of which, all of these features and services are organized under one single service called Multi-Turbo. The services help boost the frame rate by over 70%, app startup by 30% and also help the iQOO switch seamlessly between Wi-Fi and 4G LTE for uninterrupted, non-stop and worry-free gaming experience,

A triple camera setup

Photography is managed by a three-camera setup at the rear featuring a main 12MP (f/1.8) (Dual-pixel AF) + 13MP (Sony IMX263) (ultrawide) + 2MP (depth) sensors combo assisted by a single LED flash. Up front, we do have a 12MP camera. Both the rear and forward facing cameras can record videos at a resolution of up to 4K 2160p @ 30fps and Full HD 1080p @ 30fps respectively.

Battery, charging tech, connectivity and Android OS

A large 4000mAh battery is onboard the Vivo iQOO to keep the lights on. Speaking of which, the device is topped up via the USB-C port. Having said that all variants except the 6GB + 128GB variant come equipped with 44W Fast charging that can fill up 50%, 85% and full 100% of the battery in just 15, 30 and 45 minutes respectively. Super impressive! The 6GB + 128GB charges at 22.5W, which is still fast enough.

Now coming to the connectivity side of the Vivo iQOO, it has you covered with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0 LE with A2DP, GPS for navigation and location-based services and more. Thankfully, Vivo has decided to retain the 3.5mm audio jack for audiophiles.

The Vivo iQOO comes pre-installed with Android 9.0 Pie based Vivo’s Funtouch UI 9 out of the box.

Availability, pricing, and colors

The Vivo iQOO is available in China (worldwide availability is yet to be known and confirmed) as the first flash sale was conducted on 6th March. The device will set you back $450 for the base 6GB + 128GB variant all the way up to $640 for the fully loaded 12GB + 256GB variant. The iQOO is available in Optic Blue and Lava Orange paint jobs.
