Update Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 N8010 with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Official Firmware

Rakesh | 24 Jan 2013 | Android News/ Guides/ ROMs/ Samsung

I still remember the exact date (December 13)  when the Galaxy Note 10.1 received the first Jelly Bean (Android 4.1.1) update which started rolling out from Germany. Samsung has now begun to push its latest version of Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for the Note 10.1, and again the users of this powerful tablet in Germany happen to be lucky to get it first in the world. The new update is now available through Samsung Kies and on device Over-the-Air update feature. If you are from Germany, you can check for the new update  as described below:

  • Samsung Kies: Open Kies> Select Tools> Select Firmware Upgrade and Initialization> Enter Model “GT-N8010”
  • OTA: Settings> About> Software Update.

If you are unable to receive the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update on your Galaxy Note 10.1 N8010 via above methods, you can download the complete firmware from the link below and install it using Odin. In case you are not from Germany, you need not get disheartened as this is an Unbranded firmware and therefore it can be flashed on any International version of the Note 10.1 with model number GT-N8010. The size of the firmware is more than 1.2 GB, so you will need to have a good and stable data connection.

Firmware Details:

  • PDA: N8010XXUCMA5
  • CSC: N8010OXACMA5
  • MODEM: N8010XXUCMA5
  • OS Version: Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean
  • Date: December 14, 2013
  • Country: Germany
  • Regions: Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom

Download Firmware:

Download the firmware in zip from sites like Samsung Updates and Sammobile, extract the zip and follow the instructions given the tutorial (link below). We are thankful to Sammobile for the firmwares.

Yesterday, I upgraded my GT-N8010 (4.0.4) with JB 4.1.2 following the instructions of this article. No errors encountered and it seems that everything is working (thnx for the clear guide).
Except, that now I notice some hickups/lag in the handling of my tab. For example: when I run the helicopter video demo, it sometimes hangs for a second. Previously, this has never happened. Under 4.0.4. I could play this video, have a bunch of other apps running and smoothly swipe through my home screens, all fluently.
So, is anyone else experiencing the same?
Or even better: has anyone any suggestions on how to fix this? Thnx, in advance.

Reset you device, it will be fixed but do not forget to backup your important data as it will delete the files on internal storage.

Thanks for your advice, but what do you mean by resetting my device? What do I have to do? And why will it be fixed then? Sorry for any stupid questions, but I’m new to this.

Such issues occur when old and new files overlap each other.
Rebooting and resetting are the most common treatment for such errors. Reboot your device again and again and test if the issue is still there. And if it is, perform a wipe data factory reset from Recovery. Press and hold the Volume Up and Power buttons simultaneously till the screen turns up, Samsung logo blinks for two times and then release the power key but keep the volume key pressed till you see a black screen with blue text. Use volume keys to scroll and power button to select and option. Go to “wipe data factory reset” and select it. Finally reboot your tab.

I have tried numerous times more because I can not get out of the cycle I am in. See picture. When I go back to pushing off and down volume it takes me back to the Volume up: Continue or Volume down: Cancel (restart phone) When I hit cancel it takes me back to the picture I sent. I can not get out of it now. So I go back and hit continue and it goes throught the complete Odin process until the very end when I get the Fail. Have I bricked the device.? Please help!

No you have not bricked the device. If you can pull the battery, do it, place the battery again and you will be able to boot the phone. I think it is a driver problem. Please close Kies if it is open during the procedure and try again. The method is fully tested so there is no risk at all until you make a mistake.

I have pulled the battery, (that was an adventure), and still I have the same message as before

            DroidViews says:

Okay, pull the battery again, wait for 20 seconds, reinsert battery and try to enter download mode and then flash the FW.
If you still face the same issue, remove battery, place it back after a while, enter the Recovery mode by pressing and holding the volume up+power till you see samsung logo with device model flicker followed by a black screen with blue text. Using volume keys, go to “wipe data factory reset” and select it using power kay. When it is done, go to reboot system now. Everything should be okay.

I have tried all of that. I can not get out of the sequence I described earlier. It keeps going back to the picture I sent you previously. I have left the battery off for several minutes at a time.

boot into recovery and not in download mode by volume up+power buttons and do what is told above.

We are going in circles. I once again disconnected the battery and left it like that for over an hour. After reconnecting and attempting to put the device into either download or recovery mode the device would not even turn on, although I charged the device all night. When I plug in the cord it then goes back to the picture i sent earlier. The only response I get from there is trying to get to download mode which takes me to the current picture I have sent. When I hit the volume down (restart phone) it takes me back to the other screen. I CAN NOT get out of the two screen shots. Seems to be bricked. I am going to throw up now.

            DroidViews says:

I say once again to enter the recovery mode. No need to throw up your device as long as its screen is turning up. I still believe that you are making a mistake.

Do it again but with a cool temperament:: turnoff the device by pulling out the battery, put it back. If pressing Volume Up+power is taking you to download mode (shown in your images), try Volume Down+Power combination to enter the recovery mode (shown below). keep both the keys pressed till you see a screen with an Android bot and blue text. then wipe data factory reset and reboot device.

Does it make a difference that my device was a N8013 and originally downloaded the N8010 4.1.1 and was trying to get the latest N8010 4.1.2 per your instructions on this site? Is it possible I have the wrong firmware?

I remember myself flashing a different firmware on my tab 2. I noticed a few connectivity and other bugs. But you can download a firmware for N8013 and install it back.

The tablet keeps cycling on and off during the Odin uplaod and not allowing the firmware change. I called Samsung and they think I have bricked the tablet and won’t help. I don’t know what to do.

DROIDVIEWS “Hmm. It does not matter in that case too. With the German firmware installed, you will still be able to get the future updates via Kies and OTA (of course, the German). So don’t worry about that. :)”

I am one who had the N8013 and successfully went to the N8010 4.1.1 Now that the 4.1.2 is out how do I get it? Is there a way to go back to the N8013 and get the over the air update or to update the N8010 4.1.2? My device now says that because I have modified the device software updates are not available.. Thanks!
