Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 WiFi GT-P5110 Gets Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Firmware Update

Rakesh | 07 Mar 2013 | Guides/ ROMs/ Samsung

The first Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 WiFi GT-P5110 arrived back in early December last year. It was Android 4.1.1 firmware and while most variants of this popular tablet have already received the Android 4.1.2 update quite a while ago, the GT-P5110 variant remained neglected for some mysterious reason.

Anyways, Samsung seems to have get some time for the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 WiFi and has now started the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware rollout for the device. The users of this device in China and Serbia are first to receive the OTA update and those who are from other countries will have to wait for some time. The update will be rolling out in scheduled phases. You can start keeping a keen eye on Samsung Kies for firmware update notification or check for the update availability on you Tab 2 itself by going to Settings> About> Software Update.

The Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update will be bringing a host of new features and improvements as faster user interface and better battery life. If you are not from China or Serbia, you need not feel sad. The better part of the story is that both the firmwares are for the international variant of the Tab 2. And, therefore it means that you can update your Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 WiFi with model number GT-P5110 to the latest Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean by installing any (preferably the Serbian) of the firmwares listed below. No matter, what country or reason you belong to, you can install this firmware as long as your Tab’s model number is GT-P5110 and it is not carrier-branded.

If you are not sure about the model number of your  Galaxy Tab 2, you can check it from Settings> About. If it matches, you can go ahead and taste the fresh Jelly Bean.

How to Install:

Download the firmware file from above. When the download is finished, extract the zip on your computer and install via Odin. If you do not know hoe to install this firmware, head over to our  Detailed Installation Tutorial.

The easiest way is to factory reset the device from Settings> Backup and reset> Factory data reset.

Backup your data before doing that.

well, serbian version look good, but have problem with random restart. If i turn screen off i am in the magic circle of reboot. So anytime when display is off system is going to restart tablet. really annoying, i am thinking of open window and throw it away. I will try honk kong firmware

Perform a data factory reset: turn off device, press and hold volume up+poer buttons till your tab vibrates and you see Samsung logo blink for two times, Release the power button and then wipe data factory reset and cache partition. using volume up and down tp scroll and power key to select. Then reboot device. Hope it helps you.

    Complete(Write) operation failed.

    Added!!

    All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed1)

I cannot get into download mode. I press and hold Volume Up+Power buttons together for a few seconds. Then a screen (in Chinese)with yellow triangle appears. I press the Volume Down key but instead of lead me to Download mode it gets me Recovery mode (I had installed CWM-bases Recovery v6.0.1.0.

oops! I have already leave a message in your previous article with the 4.1.1… so to replace the Chinese ROMs

do you recommend the Serbian? I just want to get rid of the Chinese ROMs restrictions. Should I install the 4.1.2 or the 4.1.1? nor Hong Kong, nor any other (UK? BR?)

You can go with Hong Kong or Serbian version. Currently only 4 firmwares are available. I have installed the Hong Kong FW on a friend’s tab.

My past experiences with Chinese ROMs have been well as I found Chinese lurking here and there even after changing system language to English.
