Samsung has decided to fight back in 2019 as Chinese OEMs are increasingly chipping off smartphone sales from the Korean giant. Not only is Samsung getting aggressive with their flagships this year but they’re also trying harder at the mid-range.
The new Samsung Galaxy M series while still not quite as aggressively priced as the competition provides a good band for the buck. A new arrival to this lineup is expected to be released on March 7, 2019, called the Samsung Galaxy M30 but you can download the Galaxy M30 wallpapers right now.
Prior to the Samsung Galaxy M30, Samsung’s Galaxy M10 and M20 were very well received by critics and consumers alike. The latest addition, the Galaxy M30 looks to build upon the good name with a triple rear camera setup, fast charging, and a large battery at a competitive price point of ₹14,990.
Samsung Galaxy M30 Design
While Samsung has refrained from notches in the top-tier, the mid-range Galaxy M series has embraced it. The Samsung Galaxy M30 features a water-drop-like notch with less curve and even smaller width. It’s basically the notch from the Essential Phone but it doesn’t cut in as deep. In my books, the best a notch can get. Samsung is one OEM that can be expected to match the standards set by Apple. However, even Samsung’s devices have a small chin at the bottom like all other Android phones with a notch.
The Galaxy M30 starts at ₹14,990 so we can’t really complain about it not being as good as the iPhone though. In other news, it sports a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, just above the Samsung logo. The three cameras and the LED flash are all aligned vertically towards the left edge. On the right, are the power and volume buttons. The left edge of the Samsung Galaxy M30 houses the SIM tray with a dedicated microSD card slot. The bottom edge features the speaker, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The device has a nice looking gradient design on the back panel regardless of the color variant you pick. Speaking of which, it comes in two color options – Gradation Black and Gradation Blue. Neither of these changes colors depending on the angle at which light strikes the surface, unlike the gradients on the Huawei and Honor phones.
Samsung Galaxy M30 Specs
On the notched front is a huge 6.4-inch Super AMOLED touch screen with a resolution of 1080 pixels by 2280 pixels, pixel per inch count of 394. All of this accounts for a ~85.6% screen-to-body ratio. The notch houses a 16 MP selfie shooter which supports HDR and video recording up to 1080p @30fps. Under the display hides the Exynos 7904 Octa-core CPU with Mali-G71 MP2 GPU. This is supported with 4GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage, or 6GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage.
The rear cameras on the back consist of a 13 MP f/1.9 sensor with PDAF support, a 5MP ultra-wide lens, and another 5 MP f/2.2 depth sensor. The rear cameras support video recording of 2160p and 1080p at 30fps, panorama, and HDR. All that set up is powered by a large 5000 mAh battery which also supports 15W fast charging.
On the software side of things, the Galaxy M30 will ship with Samsung Experience v9.5 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. Samsung has promised to release the Android Pie update but knowing Samsung, it could be a while. It’s also not clear whether any of Samsung’s mid-rangers will get One UI with the update.
