As we’ve seen, Samsung is starting to look for a comeback in the Indian market after being dethroned by Xiaomi and OnePlus. It started with the Galaxy M series and now Samsung has launched a new lineup of Samsung Galaxy A10, Galaxy A30, and Galaxy A50 in India. These are priced starting at ₹8,490, ₹16,990, and ₹19,990 respectively. Samsung Galaxy A30 Design
The Samsung Galaxy A30 sits between the A10 and the A50. It features a Samsung Infinity U style notch like the Galaxy A50, and Galaxy M30. The water-drop style Infinity-V notch has only been used by Samsung on the cheapest devices in the M and A series so far. Glossy surfaces smeared with gradients are the trending design choice in the Indian market right now and Samsung follows suit. The Galaxy A30 though features subtle gradients with luxurious colors instead of the brighter gradients on other devices.
The backs are made of plastic, given a shiny reflective finish. This means it will attract fingerprints and scratches if not put in a case. There is a dual camera setup aligned vertically towards the left and a fingerprint sensor on the back as well. Other design choices are similar to other Samsung devices such as a dual SIM slot and a dedicated memory card slot on the left, buttons on the right, etc. The device features a USB Type C charging port at the bottom along with a headphone jack.
Display
The front features a huge 6.4-inch Super AMOLED touch screen with a resolution of 1080 pixels by 2340 pixels and a pixel per inch count of 403. All of this accounts for a ~85.1% screen-to-body ratio. The display has an aspect ratio of 19.5:9.
Specs
Under the display hides the Exynos 7885 Octa-core CPU with Mali-G71 GPU. This is supported with 4GB RAM and 64 GB of internal storage, or 3GB RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. All that set up is powered by a large 4000 mAh battery which also supports 15W fast charging.
Camera
The notch houses a 16 MP f/2.0 selfie shooter which supports video recording up to 1080p @30fps. The rear cameras on the back consist of a 16 MP f/1.7 sensor with PDAF support, a 5MP ultra-wide lens, and another 5 MP f/2.2 depth sensor. The rear cameras support video recording up to 1080p at 30fps, panorama, and HDR. The cameras are aided with an LED flash that sits right below the camera module.
Software
On the software side of things, the Galaxy A30 will ship with Android 9.0 Pie out of the box with Samsung’s new One UI update.
