Smartphone giant Samsung took the wraps off the all-new A50 smartphones back in late February. The glass and 3D Glasstic (a blend of glass and plastic for the battery panel) sandwich Galaxy A50 features a 6.4in Full HD+ tall 19.5:9 Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels.
The performance is carried out by a home-brewed Exynos 9610 Octa SoC coupled to a Mali-G72 MP3 GPU aided by 6GB of RAM on the 128GB internal variant and 4GB of RAM on the 64GB internal storage variant. With that said, the internal memory is expandable, as the device is equipped with a dedicated memory card slot (up to 512 GB).
Coming to biometrics, a fingerprint scanner is situated beneath the AMOLED display, of course, the traditional optical variety, unlike the ultrasonic one that’s present in the Flagship Galaxy S10 and S10+. As for ingress protection, the Galaxy A50 is IP68 certified, meaning the device is dust proof and water resistant.
Tri-Cam setup
Photography is handled by a triple camera setup at the rear featuring a primary 25MP (PDAF) (f/1.7 lens) + 5MP (f/2.2) (depth). The third sensor is an ultrawide 8MP unit (f/2.2). The cameras are assisted by an LED flash. A 25MP (f/2.0) selfie camera is available for selfieholics. Both rear and front-facing cameras are able to record videos at a resolution of up to 2160p @ 30fps and 1080p videos @ 30fps respectively.
Battery Power and charging, connectivity and Android OS
A generous 4000 mAh battery is onboard to keep the device ticking on and on. With that said, the Galaxy A50 is equipped with a USB-C port for charging and data transfers. Speaking of which, the device features Samsung’s Adaptive Fast Charging (15W) to help it top up fast enough in the morning.
Coming to the connectivity side of the device, it has you all covered with Dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0 LE with A2DP and EDR, GPS for navigation and location-based services and more are onboard. Thankfully, a 3.5mm audio jack lives in the device for all audiophiles out there.
The Galaxy A50 ships with Android 9.0 Pie based Samsung One UI from day one.
