Nokia 1, the phone for those stepping up from a basic feature phone
HMD Global, the parent company of the new Nokia smartphones unveiled the Nokia 1 at MWC in Barcelona, Spain on February 25 of this year. The Nokia 1 is an Android Go Edition phone considering its entry-level specs. For those of you living under a rock, Android Go is an edition of Android that is designed to run on low-end devices. The Nokia 1 features an ordinary plastic body and also thankfully employs a removable battery.
Nokia 1 Technical Specifications
The Nokia 1 features a 4.5in standard 16:9 854 x 480 pixels FWVGA IPS LCD display that translates to a pixel density of 218 PPI. It is powered by a MediaTek MT6737M Octa-core SoC coupled with a Mali-T720MP1 along with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage that is expandable via the dedicated MicroSD card slot. Neither fingerprint scanner nor face unlocking is available on the Nokia 1 considering it is an entry-level and quite basic Android device.
Photography is handled by a simple and basic camera setup at the rear featuring a 5MP camera assisted by an LED flash and a 2MP shooter up front. The rear cam can record video with a resolution up to 480p. A 2150 mAh battery is onboard the Nokia 1 to keep it ticking on. Coming to the connectivity side of the Nokia 1, it has you covered with WI-FI 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 LE with A2DP, GPS and more. Thankfully the Nokia 1 retains the good old headphone jack we all love. The Nokia 1 is an Android Go Edition, meaning, it naturally runs on the Go edition of the stock and pure Android 8.1 out of the box.
Pricing and colour option
As for pricing, the Nokia 1 costs only $85 (launch price) and it is available in Warm Red and Dark Blue.
Design. Simple, barebones and basic considering its class.
Design-wise, the Nokia 1 looks original and much like any other device in the HMD Global smartphone lineup. Flip the device and upfront you are greeted by a standard 16:9 aspect ratio display.
