Lenovo is all set to unveil the latest entrant in their solid mid-range Moto Z Play series
Lenovo owned Motorola is all set to unveil the latest and greatest mid-range device they have to offer on June 6, 2018. Popular technology website XDA Developers has got hold of an internal document at Lenovo. As per the document, the Motorola Moto Z3 Play is expected to be equipped with a 6.0in 18:9 Max Vision Full HD+ AMOLED display. Speaking of which, the device would feature minimal bezels top and bottom going the 2018 smartphone design route. Powering up the device would most likely be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC aided by 4GB of RAM. Storage capacity wise, the Moto Z3 Play would be available in both 32 and 64GB variants along with a MicroSD card for expandable storage.
With that said, the Moto Z3 Play as expected will without a doubt feature a modular design for exciting Moto mods much like the Z2 Play and Z Play of yesterday. Speaking of Moto mods, the Moto Z3 Play is expected to feature an exceptional Moto mod that aims to bring 5G cellular connectivity. Yes, 5G cellular connectivity with the help of just a piece of attachable accessory. A 3000mAh battery is expected to be onboard to keep the lights on.
Photography is expected to be handled by a dual camera setup at the rear featuring a 12MP low light sensor in combination with another 12MP sensor. An 8MP camera is up front the Z3 Play for the selfieholics. Disappointingly, a 3.5mm headphone jack is nowhere mentioned in the internal document forcing users to live with a finicky and easy to lose 3.5mm audio jack to USB Type-C dongle.
Now coming to the software side of things, the Moto Z3 Play is expected to feature MotoVoice, that would allow users to control their phone via voice commands to launch their favourite apps and also get answers to their questions. The device will most likely feature the navigation gestures as seen on Moto phones in the market right now but without the home button.
Yes, the Moto Z3 Play ditches the home button for two reasons. The first one being that the device would employ an 18:9 aspect ratio display which shaves off the bezels top and bottom, the second reason is that the device will feature a navigation bar similar to what we had seen on the latest Android P DP2, meaning, now the navigation gestures would have to be initiated by using the bar. But, hey, where is the fingerprint sensor? well, that is expected to be relocated to the side of the phone like we had seen on Sony Xperia phones in the past.
