The device was released in 4 variants with Android Lollipop early this year and now it has received the Marshmallow update. If you live in the countries like Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Bolivia, Uruguay, Panama, etc., there is a good news for you as the Galaxy A5 SM-A510M, the model that’s sold in the South American countries, can now be updated to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
Today, we’re here to tell you in detail about installing the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Firmware on Galaxy A5 SM-A510M. Having installed the new firmware, you’ll be able to enjoy many new features and improvement in device performance. Marshmallow brings better power management tweaks and features for better battery performance. It also gives you control over managing app permissions for third-party apps. You can now enable Google Now on Tap feature simply by holding the Home button. The new app drawer has now search feature that lets you find apps more quickly.

- First of all, download the firmware. After downloading the firmware zip from above, you’ll have to extract it to get the actual firmware file with .tar.md5 extension.
- Download Odin 3.10.7 and extract it too.
- Install the latest Samsung USB Drivers on your PC.
- Enable USB debugging by going to Settings> Developers options on your Galaxy A5.
- Backup your apps and data.
- Charge your device to ensure at least 60% battery level.
Installing Marshmallow Firmware on Galaxy A5 SM-A510M
Step 1: Open the Odin folder and Odin 3.10.7.exe.
Step 2: Turn off your Galaxy A5 and boot it into the Download mode by pressing and holding the Volume Down + Home + Power keys at the same time for about 2-3 seconds. Release the keys when you see the warning screen with the yellow exclamation mark and then press the Volume Up key to get into the Download Mode.
Step 3: Connect your device to a Windows computer using the original USB cable that came with your phone. When your device is detected by the computer, the ID:COM port in Odin will turn blue and you’ll see “Added!!” in Odin’s log box.
Step 5: Click the Start button to initiate the installation and wait patiently while the firmware is being installed.
Step 6: When the firmware is installed, you will get PASS! message on Odin followed by automatic device reboot.
Done! All you need to do now is to wait for 4-8 minutes until your phone boots up. The device will boot up and you will be able to enjoy the newly installed Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow on your Galaxy J5 SM-A510M.
