Install JellyBean 4.2.2 JDQ39 OTA Update on Nexus 7 WiFi, Nexus 7 GSM & Nexus 10

Knowingly, we have already covered the Jellybean 4.2.2 OTA Installation Instructions for most Nexus devices. So, to cross over the complete line up of Nexus series, today we will publish the guidelines for Installing the same OTA update on Nexus 7 WiFi, Nexus 7 GSM & Nexus 10.

You may follow these instructions if you haven’t received any Over-The-Air update notifications [Settings > About Phone > Check Now for Update] or If you’re always keen to update manually rather than automatic OTA updates.

Warning!

• The Instructions are meant only for Nexus 7 WiFi, Nexus 7 GSM & Nexus 10.
• Remember! WiFi and GSM/HSPA+ editions are two different variants, so please do not cross over the files or steps

Prerequisites

• Jellybean 4.2.1 JOP40D
• Android SDK Installed [LINK]
• USB cable and USB drivers [LINK]
• Backup Device Storage, Text Messages, Contacts, Calender & Organizer
• Battery level above 60%
• Enable USB debugging. Go to Settings > Developer Options and enable USB Debugging.

Installation Instructions

Nexus 7 GSM/HSPA+ 

1. Download JellyBean 4.2.2 OTA update [Google Server link]
2. Power off your device. Press Volume Down + Power buttons simultaneously until you see the fastboot screen. Use the volume keys to highlight Recovery and use Power button to select.
3. You will see another screen with red colored exclamation mark. Press Volume Up and Power buttons altogether until you see the stock recovery screen.
4. Select Apply update from ADB
5. Connect your Nexus 7 to PC via USB data cable
6. Open the folder where the OTA update package was downloaded. Press Shift Key and Right Click on an empty space, select Open Command Prompt Here.
7. Flash the OTA package. Type:

   adb sideload 357318e165a8.signed-nakasig-JDQ39-from-JOP40D.357318e1.zip

8. When the update is Installed successfully, reboot the device.

Nexus 7 WiFi

1. Download JellyBean 4.2.2 OTA update [Google Server link]
2. Power off your device. Press Volume Down + Power buttons simultaneously until you see the fastboot screen. Use the volume keys to highlight Recovery and use Power button to select it.
3. You will see another screen with red colored exclamation mark. Press Volume Up and Power buttons altogether until you see the stock recovery screen.
4. Select Apply update from ADB
5. Connect your Nexus 7 to PC via USB data cable
6. Open the folder where the OTA update package was downloaded. Press Shift Key and Right Click on an empty space, select Open Command Prompt Here.
7. Flash the OTA package. Type:

   adb sideload 6ece895ecb23.signed-nakasi-JDQ39-from-JOP40D.6ece895e.zip

8. When the update is Installed successfully, reboot the device.

Nexus 10

1. Download JellyBean 4.2.2 OTA update [Google Server link]
2. Power off your device. Press Volume Up + Power buttons simultaneously until you see the fastboot screen. Use the volume keys to highlight Recovery and use Power button to select it.
3. You will see another screen with red colored exclamation mark. Press Volume Up and Power buttons altogether until you see the stock recovery screen.
4. Select Apply update from ADB
5. Connect your Nexus 10 to PC via USB data cable
6. Open the folder where the OTA update package was downloaded. Press Shift Key and Right Click on an empty space, select Open Command Prompt Here.
7. Flash the OTA package. Type:

   adb sideload eaef14432ff5.signed-mantaray-JDQ39-from-JOP40D.eaef1443.zip

8. When the update is Installed successfully, reboot the device.
