Samsung revealed One UI Watch. This new software skin will live on top of the as-yet-unnamed wearable software from Samsung and Google.
Samsung released One UI Watch, this skin will appear on Wear OS 3.0 On
Google I/O 2021, Google announced the next stage of its Wear OS wearable operating system, which surprised all of us. Google and Samsung have joined forces to develop a new operating system for future Samsung wearable devices.
We haven’t seen what Wear OS 3.0 looks like. We don’t even know its official name. However, at the Mobile World Congress 2021, Samsung announced One UI Watch, a software front end that will run on Wear OS 3.0 when it appears on the upcoming Samsung smartwatch. The company has confirmed that the next-generation Galaxy Watch, which is almost certainly the Galaxy Watch 4, will simultaneously launch this new operating system and the One UI version of the watch.
As expected, the Wear OS program is very similar, but the One UI design has some changes. During the presentation, Samsung focused on three things: its extensive application ecosystem, synchronization of mobile phones and watches, and a series of dial design tools.
Compared with the current version of Wear OS, one of the biggest disadvantages of using Samsung wearable devices is the lack of applications. Wear OS watches can access the Google Play store, where you can find hundreds of applications. Many of these apps are scaled-down versions of popular apps you use on your phone, such as Strava, Spotify, MyFitnessPal, etc.
Fortunately, Samsung has confirmed that the next-generation Galaxy Watch will be able to access applications from the Google Play Store. This is good news, indicating that this new, unnamed operating system is likely to be based on Wear OS or something.
The video above also shows that the One UI Watch skin is not much different from the current Wear OS appearance. However, the video below shows how Samsung redesigned to better match its Galaxy phones.
One UI Watch Phone / Handheld Sync
Samsung stated that one of the main goals of One UI Watch is to better synchronize your phone and watch. By doing this, the upcoming Galaxy Watch will automatically sync with your phone in a variety of ways.
For example, Samsung demonstrated the installation of applications on mobile phones. In the video, we see how installing Spotify on your phone automatically installs the same application on your watch. This is a huge time saver.
Another example is how the time zone is synchronized. In the video, the mobile phone in the watch application has two active time zones: Seoul and Barcelona (the first is the capital of Samsung’s hometown, and the second is the location of the mobile world. Since the user has set this on the phone, the Congress will also set the automatic Transfer to watch
Samsung also showed how to transfer the call blocking function on the phone or watch to another device, and how to transfer the design aspect of the One UI function to the watch version
Dial design software
Finally, Samsung launched A new set of Watchface Designer software. The software has a very simple user interface that allows people to be creative and use all the new rules of the dial
. I don’t know if anyone can download and use the software, or if it is exclusively for approved Designer/developer use; j But, its simplicity is preset, I hope everyone can use it.
If you are not a creative person, fortunately, there are hundreds in the Google Play Store A watch face and watch face store. When it comes to the watch face on your next Samsung watch, you will never have any other choice.
