[Kernel] Franco’s Kernel Now supports Nexus 7

Its an huge honor for me to write about franco francisco, who is considered as one of the best kernel developers on XDA. I might not be able to describe his work in just a few posts because his works are legend.

Starting from LG Optimus One, franco proceeded to huawei U8800, Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy Note,  HTC One X, SGS3 and now his work hits the Nexus 7 section. His kernel not only unleashes the true power of  a device but also out fronts its uniqueness.

Current Stage: R-3 (29, August)

Now, before stating with anything, I would like you to know how to root your Nexus 7 with an ease: [Follow This Guide]

Features of FK-R3 for Nexus 7 follows:

1. Compatible with CM10

2. Performance & battery optimizations

3. I/O Speed boosted

4. Tweaked Ramdisk

For complete patch list of this kernel, refer to Franco’s sources: [LINK]

– Download the boot image

– Reboot into bootloader

– Type in the following command:
fastboot flash boot name_of_the_image.img
How to toggle Fsync:

Fsync is disabled by default

When Enabled = stock IO speed while having data integrity

When Disabled = more IO throughput but less data integrity
echo Y > /sys/module/sync/parameters/fsync_enabled (N to disable and Y to enable)
