Install Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Firmware on Galaxy A5 SM-A510M (2016)

Preparations

  • First of all, download the firmware. After downloading the firmware zip from above, you’ll have to extract it to get the actual firmware file with .tar.md5 extension.
  • Download Odin 3.10.7 and extract it too.
  • Install the latest Samsung USB Drivers on your PC.
  • Enable USB debugging by going to Settings> Developers options on your Galaxy A5.
  • Backup your apps and data.
  • Charge your device to ensure at least 60% battery level.

Installing Marshmallow Firmware on Galaxy A5 SM-A510M

Step 1: Open the Odin folder and Odin 3.10.7.exe.

Step 2: Turn off your Galaxy A5 and boot it into the Download mode by pressing and holding the Volume Down + Home + Power keys at the same time for about 2-3 seconds. Release the keys when you see the warning screen with the yellow exclamation mark and then press the Volume Up key to get into the Download Mode.

Step 3: Connect your device to a Windows computer using the original USB cable that came with your phone. When your device is detected by the computer, the ID:COM port in Odin will turn blue and you’ll see “Added!!” in Odin’s log box.

Step 4: Now click the AP button in Odin, navigate to the firmware folder and add the firmware file with .tar.md5 extension.Odin3-v3.10.7--firmware-installation

Step 5: Click the Start button to initiate the installation and wait patiently while the firmware is being installed.

Step 6: When the firmware is installed, you will get PASS! message on Odin followed by automatic device reboot.

Done! All you need to do now is to wait for 4-8 minutes until your phone boots up. The device will boot up and you will be able to enjoy the newly installed Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow on your Galaxy J5 SM-A510M.
